Shavonn J has personality that instantly connects you to “Shavonn’s World.” A small woman with a BIG SMILE!! By far she has the most nicknames, 22 to be exact. That speaks to how people are captivated by the essence of Shavonn.  Shavonn is alumni of Kennedy King College and Chicago State University, majoring in Media Communications and Theatre, which sparked a light that will not dim.

 

Shavonn led a dynamic radio show, “The Afternoon Drive with Shavonn and Vanzant,” for seven years strong on 89.3 WKKC-FM. Solo, she  kept people entertained without gossip on “Shavonn’s World” at Windy City Underground and WCSU iHeartRadio. Over the years, she has recorded commercials for Avlon Hair Products Model Search, the City Colleges of Chicago Voters Registration Campaign, and Christian Transportation Service, just to name a few. Also, she has gotten remarkable radio interviews with Jada Pinkett-Smith, Donell Jones, Big Daddy Kane, Faith Evans, Syleena Johnson, Tink and more. With a creative mind, Shavonn has produced various multimedia content & events including “Out of Breath, Out of Mind,” a visual and audible asthma and mental health awareness production. She wanted to raise awareness of these two chronic health issues that have impacted her deeply, so she collaborated with her talented peers to create a heartfelt production that integrated media and performing arts together to provoke awareness, acceptance and action!

She stared in a domestic violence PSA for WYCC- channel 20’s “Domestic Violence Town Hall Meeting,” at KKC and a had cameo in their 2009 election series,  “We The People.”As an intern at WBBM-FM in the fall of 2009, she gained a lot of insight about the radio industry and its future. Furthermore, working with Central City Production and WYCC -20, as a production assistant. She’s been advised by respected professional Jeanne Sparrow, Troi Tyler,  Harold Lee Rush, Marv Dyson, and Elroy Smith, who has put their stamp of approval on the talents, skills, and the potential that Shavonn has.
